In an extraordinary final day, we saw the bruised Indian cricketers pull up their socks to defy the hosts with some resilient defensive batting. Starting the day at 98/2 needing 309 runs to win the Test match, India lost their Captain, Ajinkya Rahane cheaply of the bowling of Nathan Lyon scoring just 4 runs. Then, Wicket Keeper Rishab Pant along with Pujara stitched together a 148-run partnership. Pant was eventually dismissed by Lyon scoring 97 runs in very quick time. We saw a typical Pant Innings with lots of gorgeous and outrageous strokes and also providing some simple chances which the Aussies which they were not able to grab. 9 overs later, the gritty innings of Pujara came to an end playing down the wrong line of Hazlewood loosing his off stump. He scored 77 runs of 205 balls. With Jadeja injured, Ravi Ashwin walked in after the loss of Pujara’s wicket. On the other end Hanuma Vihari had a hamstring issue which dried up the strike rotation due to his inability to run. The pair batted out 42 overs stitching an undefeated 62 run partnership to steer India till the end of the day snatching a draw from the jas of defeat. The pair faced a barrage of short pitch deliveries with Ashwin taking blows on his chest and rib cage. During their long stay, Ashwin rode his luck after the substitute Abbot dropped a fairly simple catch at Square Leg. Vihari on the other hand kept defending until he nicked one to Paine who dropped his 3rd catch of the day and in turn dropping the match of Mitchel Starc.

A five-day Test match going down to the last hour of play with all three outcomes possible is a rarity in nowadays. After a long time, we were able to witness a classic five-day Test match. While the first two matches were kind of a friendly affair but this Test saw the bitter side of the Aussies with barrage of short balls, crowd abuses towards Indian cricketers and finally Tim Paine getting into a conversation with Ashwin from behind the stumps. The conversation was captured on stump mic where Paine quoted, "Can't wait for you to to get to Gabba" just to get a fitting reply from Ashwin saying, “Can't wait to get you to India, it'll be your last series”. The Aussie skipper went on to drop another catch following the conversation, letting the Indians scrape through to a draw. With the series level at 1-1, the fourth Test at the Gabba will be a match of bragging rights with India, current holder of the Border-Gavaskar trophy would want to retain it while the Aussies will be looking for redemption. With everything up for grabs, it will be important to see how team India’s playing 11 will look like given the number of injured players in the squad.

KKR - Team Overview, IPL 2025 Season

KKR – Team Overview, IPL 2025 Season The three times IPL winners and the current defending champions are again one of the teams to watch out for in the upcoming Tata IPL, season 18. As the team management successfully retained most of their core, they still had to let go two of their heavy weights, Sreyas Iyer and Mitchelle Starc during the mega auction. But, overall the team looks well balanced and destructive in their own way.   With the experience of Ajinkya Rahane leading the side with the assistance of veteran Chandrakant Pandit as a head coach, the team already has a solid XI and the bench strength also looks solid too. Looks to have covered all bases except the impact of Mitchelle Starc.   Lets have a look at how the playing XI along with the impact player is looking like, Yes, the combination may vary depe...

Can Harshal Patel solve RCB’s death bowling woes?

Harshal Patel during his 5/27 against Mumbai Indians In the opening match of the fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League, Harshal Patel named himself in the record books by claiming the first five wicket haul against Mumbai Indians. The medium pacer was earlier traded by RCB from Delhi Capitals before the auctions. One of the most destructive batting units across all IPL seasons, RCB could still awaits their first ever IPL title win. One of the main reason being, they have been constantly falling apart with their death bowling efforts. Harshal, though not into the express pace category but he has a variety of well disguised slower balls, which makes him difficult to pick during the slog overs when the batting teams are on the attack. In his todays efforts of 5/27, he managed to knock off the most feared power hitting middle order accounting for the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Keiron Pollard, Krunal Pandya and Trent Boult in his 4 overs quota restricting Mumbai ...

Cricket : A Slow Game... Is It?

Cricket : A slow game… is it?         By Sayandeep Dutta Cricket is a very slow game. A verdict that is universally accepted which I beg to differ with. According to me there are two aspects of the game, one is mental and the other one is the physical aspect. F1 being one of the fastest sports of the world along with bike racing and some other forms of racing and if we want to take the horse power away, some of the fastest include ice hockey, basketball, table tennis, etc. When we are looking at sports only as a physical activity then yes, these are regarded as the fastest sports in the world. If we divert our mind to individual sports we can see that it is all about the mind-set of the sportsperson. It is all about taking decisions. It is all about fraction of a second which separates the best from the rest. It is all about taking the right decision at the right time, and the right time only waits for a fraction of a second. Every time a...
